Gold Toe Brands wanted to extend their Gold Toe trademark to the Mass class of trade without diluting their mark or alienating their loyal customer base, department stores.
Gold Toe Brands retained Keynote Consulting, LLC to help them understand their brand's equities, and possible extension strategies. Keynote recommended a branding hierarchy that allows for consumers to buy the “Name Brand” quality, but not pay Name Brand prices.
Gold Toe introduced sub-brands (Aura, GT) and used Gold Toe as maker’s mark to reassure quality.
